Hi everyone! It looks like Forem and others are showing us some love on Twitter today!
If you're new here, hello and welcome!
Hello,
I am a somewhat long term user of VSCode. I have previously written about one of my favorite extensions. Something I should do some more:
Thanks for sharing! π₯
Hello,
I am using VSCode since 3years now.
I am automating infrastructures from Installation to provisioning to config management. Basically i am breathing infrastructure as code by using preseeding/cloud-init/puppet and bootstrapping everything in our company i can find ;-)
Hey folks! I hope youβre having a great day. I am new here. Out of curiosity, I am just wondering why there are multiple communities for different topics, whereas we have tags for that purpose to filter articles on dev.to. Is it like centralization/ownership of information and something along this line?
Another question I can think of is whenever publishing an article on dev.to related to vscode, do I need to cross-post it on here? If so, please share a good guide for that.
Other than that, this place looks incredibly promising. Less gooo!
Mahmoud, great questions!
dev.to is an amazing place to post content! I even cross-post content from here on DEV.
The reason for multiple communities is to be more focused on certain things. In my case, I'm a big fan of VS Code, and I thought it deserved it's own community and others seem to agree, i.e. our community members. π
In regards to cross-posting, do what you want to do. I cross-post to get more reach, and remember there is a canonical URL you can set. I use this all the time because a lot of content I post originates from my blog, iamdeveloper.com.
Hi everybody!
Reading your comments I realice: Yeah, I'm teh newbie here. XD

Hey! VS Code newbie here. Main experience is with PHPStorm (secret love) and VS Code is a whole other thing to learn.
I can see many posts here on tips and tricks, is there one you would recommend to start from to help with basics thatβll help me not hate my life? ππ
I'm not sure where's best to start, but maybe adding some extensions and learning some shortcuts?

#keyboardshortcuts
Since you appear to use PHP, maybe check out this post on getting set up with debugging?

Awesome! Thank you Nick π
I do php and js coding for work but personal is just frontend which apparently VSCode is great for.
I definitely want to learn the shortcuts as thatβs what I love about the PHPStorm code editor, you can get around so quick!
The plug-ins on VSCode confuse me π₯΄
So Iβll give these a read to start, thank you
